Our Girl is 6!!!

Makenna had her sixth birthday. I still can't believe it. She's growing up so fast. She is such a sweet child  and is a great big sister. We are so proud of the little person she is becoming. And she is so excited to be six. Lately, she thinks she can do so much more now. "I can do that because I'm six now." Ha, ha.

We kept her birthday simple this year and at the end of the day she said, "This was the best birthday ever." She went to school on her birthday, which she was sooo thrilled about. Hadley and I brought treats to her classroom and she loved it. Then after dance, she had three friends over. We had dinner and then she had her grandparents, cousin, and family friends over for the normal presents, cake, and ice cream. She definitely felt special all day.

Spring Break Continued

The second day we headed to the Hogle Zoo. It was so warm that day that we didn't have to even wear jackets. It was so nice to feel spring, even if it was only for a day. The girls were anxious to see Zuri, the baby elephant. (That poor mama had to be pregnant for almost two years.) They loved seeing all of the animals. As we were leaving, we were talking about our favorite animals. And Hadley said hers was the tiny turtle. So, I guess we could have gone to a pet store and she would have been satisfied. :)

Temple Square

We decided to take the girls to Temple Square. We didn't think they would like it as much as they did. They loved learning about how the temple was built. Makenna said, "Mom, we're learning about the old days." It was a beautiful day to walk around and see the amazing temple.

Discovery Center

For spring break this year, we decided that the girls needed to have some kid time after being cooped inside for the past few months. So, we headed to Salt Lake and stayed in a hotel for two nights (which is a really big luxury to us because we usually resort to a tent). The first day, we headed to the Discovery Gateway Center. And oh, how the girls LOVED it. It really is so fun for kids. They get to just play and explore. Everything is made for kids to touch. There was a ball center, a house, a constructions site, a market, a water play area, a farm, a whole floor for creating and building, a news studio, a helicopter, and more. We ended up spending over 4 hours there and Travis and I were exhausted but the girls could have kept playing. There are lots of pictures because we had so much fun. :)

Catching Up

Now that I'm feeling better, I'd better catch up our blog. We're always keeping busy around here and making sure to take some time to have fun.

Daddy and Doughnuts
Travis took Makenna to Daddy and Doughnuts at school. She was so excited to have a little date with her dad. She is so lucky to have such a loving and involved dad.

Valentine's Getaway
In February, we dropped the kids off at Travis' parents and went with some other fun couples to Salt Lake for a day. We went to a BYU game and got to watch the famous Jimmer, which was really fun. We also did a little shopping and went out to dinner. We had so much fun and laughed all day. It was a much needed break.

Hadley's Fat Lip
Hadley was "making her bed" (I'm sure this translates to jumping on it) and caught her lip on the bottom. She came running to me with blood dripping everywhere. With only two girls in our house, we don't see a lot of blood (which I'm okay with). So after getting it cleaned up, I could see it was just a sliced lip. She was so sad for a few minutes and cuddled with me. I know I've been a mom for 6 years, but it still breaks my heart to see my kids in pain. But this is Hadley and she's our tough one, so it didn't take long for her to move on. When I was trying to take these pictures, she kept trying to smile or make a funny face, so I had to keep telling her to look serious so that I could get a better picture of her lip. All day, she kept saying "My big lip is funny".

Announcing...

BaBy #3 iS On tHe wAy!!!
...Due September 8
We are excited that our family is going to grow. It took us a little while to get to this point. Three kids just sounds like an official family- we are going to be outnumbered. We found out on Travis birthday (January 3) and have been excited. I am so relieved to be past the morning sickness and to have some energy again. My poor family had to deal with me in bed for the most of January and February. Luckily, I have a good husband who just picked up all the pieces. The girls are both more than thrilled to be having a baby. Hadley wanted to know after the first doctor appointment if we heard the baby cry. :) We are all really hoping for a boy this time, but we would be happy with another sweet girl too. I was going to wait to announce it until after the ultrasound next month, but for some reason I am showing way early this time, so it is no secret at this point. I am about four months now and am so much bigger than I was with the other two. It makes me nervous for the last few months. :) But here we go and after a fun summer, we will welcome this sweet baby. Can't wait!

Our Little Chicas

The other day the girls were playing "daycare". Makenna was, of course, the teacher. It made me laugh. They get to stay at home with their mom and so they pretend that they are at daycare? Kids are funny. I wonder if kids at daycare pretend that they get to stay home?

Makenna is always "teaching" Hadley. In this picture, she was showing her flashcards before they went to bed. It makes me smile to hear Makenna say, "Good job Honey".

My grandma made the girls these nightgowns for Christmas. They remind me of old-fashioned nightgowns. The girls call them their princess pajamas because they love twirling in them. My grandma is such a great seamstress, even at 85 years old. I definitely didn't pick up that gene.
