Introducing Donny & Marie!

Travis and I were asked to be the MC's for Aberdeen's Junior Miss Pageant, which is a really big deal here. We tried to get out of it, but they were determined and somehow convinced us to not only MC it, but also do a skit and a lip sync. If you know us, this is not really our thing other than the fact we are somewhat used to being in front of people as educators. So, despite the fact we never took drama or anything that would remotely prepare us for being in front of a large crowd, we practiced our skit and song and crossed our fingers.

The theme was "A little bit country, a little bit rock n' roll" and we got to be Donny and Marie Osmond. And yes- they are brother and sister. A little freaky. We got some good laughs and jokes about being brother and sister slash husband and wife. For the show, we had to reenact a skit from the Donny and Marie show and "sing" "A Little Bit Country", which was quite an experience. I do have to say that Travis' acting came a long way. :) Love you babe! I think it ended up being pretty funny.

Travis was way too comfortable throughout the show. He told me at the beginning to relax. Are you kidding me? You try relaxing while being on stage and in the spotlight for three hours. There was so much juggling and filling that I felt like I was on my toes the entire time. Travis was making up jokes as we went and most of them bashing me (Marie) and it somehow came a little too natural for him. :)

All-in-all, despite my fair share of bloopers, I thought the show ran smooth and we are happy to say that we didn't announce the wrong winners or anything. I think it will be a fun thing to look back at and was neat for us to do together. This was definitely, however, a one shot thing. We are happy that we did it and got out of our comfort zone and now can check that off our list. :)

Morgan brought the girls during the beginning to watch us. And one of Travis' high school students (an annoying one) was sitting behind her said, "Oh my gosh, is that Pincock in jeans?" It seriously cracks me up every time. Is it really so hard to believe that a principal wears jeans?

(I dressed country and Travis dressed rock n' roll- we know that's not how Donny and Marie dressed on their show. That was one of Travis' stipulations- no shimmery 70's pants that go up to his ribs.)

We tried to make both of our hair really big, like Donny and Marie. When we were looking through the pictures, he kept saying "My hair is huge". Ha, ha.

So, a funny thing about the skit. Travis chose to eat all of the four caramels out of the box. So, as you can guess his teeth totally stuck together and he couldn't get out his lines. It was so funny.

And I have to give a serious shout out to my AMAZING sister. She brought dinner, provided me with my wardrobe, did my hair and make-up, watched the girls that night including popcorn and ice cream sundaes, and even brought the girls to the first few minutes of the show. She is such a great aunt and sister!

Mi Hermanito

My little brother, Ian, recently headed to Argentina for three months. He is traveling, perfecting his Spanish, living with a host family, and doing a Geologist internship. He has been there for less than a week and is loving it. I'm not going to lie- I'm jealous. I remember my travels and I know it will be such an amazing experience for him. I just wish I could drop everything and a few thousand buckaroos to go see him. Oh well, at least we have a way to keep in touch with him- thank you Skype! I love this guy. He is so laid-back. When he arrived at the airport, no one was there to pick him up. But for him (despite the foreign country and language), no big deal- just leisurely take a taxi. Here are some pictures of the farewell get-together we had for him before he left. Te quiero mi hermano. Tenga el tiempo de su vida!

Hadley's 2nd Birthday

Our sweet little Hadley turned TWO yesterday. Can you even believe that? Her two years of her life have gone so fast but yet, have been so wonderful. As quickly as time has gone, I was ready for her to be two because she acts and talks so old. So, I always had to stop and think when someone asked how old she was because one year old didn't seem right. That's Hadley for you- trying to grow up so fast and keep up with her sister. So, now she is officially two years old and I feel excited and sad about it all at the same time. She has brought so much laughter to our family. She is such a funny little thing. We truly can't get enough of her. She seems to have a special power over me when she wraps those chubby fingers around mine and says "Come here Mommy".

We were in the Sun Valley area for her birthday and had a fun-filled birthday. As you know, she is OBSESSED with Dora and as much as I always swore I wouldn't have a character birthday party, we had a little Dora birthday for her and she LOVED every bit of it. We decorated with Dora, had a Dora cake-topper, and had a Dora treasure hunt. Ah, the things we do for our kids. :) After watching Makenna's birthday a few weeks ago, she was so excited for her birthday. The presents. Blowing out the candles. Balloons. The attention. All of it!

THE DORA HUNT

Makenna and I came up with a Dora hunt (just like the show). We made a map and here is where we had to go: 1) the fiery cave (the fire place) where we had to tip toe past the sleeping dragon 2) Up the tall mountain (the stairs) 3) Across the Grumpy Old Troll's (Travis- ha, ha) bridge (the catwalk) 4) to the land of dolls for the treasure box. Both Hadley and Makenna loved it! The got to go star catching, tell Swiper "No Swiping", go over the Grumpy Troll's (Travis') bridge, and find the treasure.

Then we headed to my dad's for dinner and of course, more birthday fun.

Easter Fun

For Easter this year, we headed to Boise to be with my family, which is how I have spent almost every Easter of my life. It just doesn't seem like Easter otherwise. We stayed with my aunt and uncle in what I like to call the Magnuson Bed and Breakfast. We had a pre-Easter dinner at my other aunt and uncle's on Saturday. Then we started out Easter with a big brunch (homemade donuts and all- yum!) and an Easter egg hunt. Makenna and Hadley played their hearts out with their two cousins. Cousin time is the best! We then had the traditional HUGE and delicious Easter dinner. My aunt is amazing. She cooked for over thirty people, which was no big deal to her since she is used to catering large events. And we even get to all sit around one big table. We had a great time with everyone and it was so nice to get away for a few days.

Great Friends

I was so lucky to have three of my best friends from college come visit a week apart. It was so fun to reminisce about old times. I am so grateful that our lives crossed and that we could gain lifetime friendships. These three friends have greatly blessed my life and it is so fun to have "mommy" talks now. How funny it is to think back to our all-nighters, studying at the library, going door-to-door on our dorm floor, boy talk (which there was LOTS of), weekend excursions, cooking together, and uncontrollable laughter. Now we get to add nursing, changing diapers, temper tantrums, hair bows, and toys to our list. Life is funny.

Rachel and Tammera

Rachel, Tammera, and I met way back in the dorms. We were all a few doors apart and had so much fun together. I can't believe that was 10 years ago! Holy crap, we are old. I love how our friendships came to be. We each are so different from each other which totally added to our friendships. I really need to post some pictures of us in the dorms to show how much we have changed and to bring a good laugh (that can be a future post). Rachel moved all the way to Oregon and just had an adorable little baby boy, Will. So, we were estatic to have her come visit so that we could finally meet him. Tammera has a 5 year-old, Gavin, who is a month older than Makenna- they had a blast together. Here is the fun we had and as you can tell, my girls LOVED baby Will. He is already surrounded by cute girls. :)

We had some quality girl's time getting pedicures or manicures and going out for ice cream. Next time, I will remember to wear flip flops- notice the flimsy styrofoam substitutes on my feet.

ANNIKAN

Annikan and I were roommates for my last year of college and during Travis and my dating days. And I even introduced her to her husband. So, we have a lot of roots. We had so much fun living together and instantly became great friends. She came this direction and stayed the night with her 3 adorable girls. So between the both of us, we have 5 girls and zero boys! They had so much fun having a sleep over and playing. Annikan and I even managed to do a craft and stayed up until 2 in the morning talking... Just like the old days. It is hard to have such good friends living far away- if only we lived closer. So, here are our girls. We didn't get any pictures of us- dang it. :)
