Valentine's Yurt Trip

Travis and I got to go on a fun Valentine's date to a yurt. We wanted to have some "us" time and what better place than in the mountains? We went with our friends, the Fosters, who are always so much fun. Travis and I dropped the kids off at Grandma's and Grandpa's for the night, which the kids were so excited about. Then we headed to the trailhead.

We had planned to ski in, but due to the lack of snow- we hiked in in our snow boots. What a weird winter! Last year, we skied in. This year, we walked in and it was 59 degrees! It was nice to be outside in the sunshine. We had fun hiking in together. Then we got to the yurt and relaxed until our friends got there. Then we ate dinner and played Cribbage. The Pincocks dominated and Travis wanted me to add that he played maybe the best game of his life. Ha ha. Then we went for a night walk to check out the amazing stars. We had a delicious dessert- a backpacking raspberry crumble. I am not kidding about how good it was. Then we played more cribbage and talked until we decided it was time for bed.

The next day, we made breakfast and played another game of cribbage (girls vs. guys, girls won.) Luke has taken a lot of training on gun safety and had a gun there. So, he taught us some basic gun safety and let us each try shooting once at a target. It was fun. I had never shot a handgun and it was a fun and new thing to do on Valentine's Day. :) Then we headed out all together- another beautiful day.

We went and got our kids with flowers for the girls and a balloon for Camden for Valentine's Day. We got Chinese food to go and went home to decorate the kitchen and have our Valentine's Dinner (usually we have Valentine's breakfast). We were so tired at this point, so watching an old rom-com was the perfect ending to the day.

What a unique Valentine's Date- gun safety!

The hike out- so pretty.

Hadley wanted festive hearts in her hair. So, I gave it a try (I am not creative with hair styles.) It turned out cute and she love it.
